It’s more challenging to dance in a set with three ghosts—but we are getting better nevertheless!
Set dancing: tonight we did all five figures of the Ballyvourney Jig set figure.
Our director Piper Call introduced us on 2022-02-09 to the Ballyvourney Jig set, a very lively dance that we intend to master—some day! To start, we were more concerned about learning the steps, whether in proper order, or not. This
The dance part of our Christmas dance party on 2021-12-15, our last practice of 2021. We practiced all four figures of the Moycullen Set. Then we had our little end-of-year Irish dance party—complete with tea and soda bread & brownies.
We practiced the Moycullen Set figures 1-2-3-4 on Dec 8, 2021. It’s okay to make mistakes—we turn them into recoveries.
Piper Call taught us jig foundations for sets/improvisation this week. Then we practiced the Kilfenora Plain Set Figure 2 (to a Jig step) to practice the steps.
Inisheer Irish Dancers workout of Wednesday, September 22, 2021
Our regular Wednesday workouts (currently 6:15-8:15 pm) start with rhythmic stretches and individual practice of steps. As soon as we are ready, we move on to Irish set dances, typically dances in squares with partners. However, no partners are necessary.
